Cloudonomics

It seems like these days, one cannot talk to anyone in a business context without referring to $$. It is clear that any product or service we are trying to sell should add either to the top line or to the bottom line. It seems like this should be true in any economy but it is not always the case. “Experimentation”, “Keeping up with the Joneses”, “Wow – cool technology, let me try it” etc were legitimate reasons to get budget approved in growth economy days but not now. So how do we make a case for Cloud Computing you may ask- here is how at a high level:

1. With CC, you are spending more on Operational Expenses and less on Capital outlays. This is a huge win in this economy

2. Lowers the Upfront costs – this is huge for new experimental projects or for start ups.

3. Allows more $$ for innovative initiatives

4. No $ for software upgrades

5. No annual maintenance contracts
