Cloud Computing is an umbrella offering that comprises of the following elements

1.     Infrastructure as a Service (GoGrid, Rackspace etc)

2.     Storage as a Service (Amazon S3, Microsoft SQL Services etc) 

3.     Computation as a Service (Amazon EC2, Windows Azure etc) 

4.     Platform as a Service (Microsoft Azure, Force.com, Google Apps Engine etc)

5.     Software Applications as a Service (Ex: Salesforce.com CRM, Workday  etc)

Depending on the business priorities and needs, Enterprises can start adopting Cloud Computing at any of of the above tiers. At Cumulux we advocate a staged hybrid approach to Cloud adoption and future posts will address that strategy.Â
